Machine no.1, kinetic sculpture, 2011, wood, wire and light
The sculpted wire-elements are back-lit by a lamp, so that they cast their shadows on the opposite wall. As the cog-wheels are turned, at one moment in time, at a particular configuration of the sculpted wire-elements, their shadows come together to form a figurative image. The machine is built so that the same wire-elements will create yet another image at a different instant. The same elements, in a different time, and from a different point of view, create a new narrative.
